Gelpack Excelsior Ltd, formerly known as Excelsior Plastics Ltd and based in Hereford was formed in 1962.
During the first 26 years the company changed ownership 4 times and in 1988 was again sold and renamed Gelpack Excelsior Ltd.
From the core product range of refuse sacks the company quickly expanded into the reprocessing of scrap polyethylene and the manufacture of carrier bags both of which were moved to a second production site located close to Hereford.
The Company's subsequent withdrawal from the carrier market was offset by the decision to start supplying bags to the industrial market using our expertise in high performance thin films and our ability to supply product within a short lead time.
Since this decision was taken Gelpack Excelsior Ltd has expanded to become the largest privately owned polyethylene products manufacturer in the UK and has also acquired Gelplas Ltd from the Britton Group during 2004.
